Marcelo Carrera - S«ªo Paulo ¡İPhotographer - EAV ¡İ Visual Arts School at Parque Lage; Graduated in Business Management from the University of S«ªo Paulo (USP) (ESPM)
The deepening of my research and production occurred at the Visual Arts School at Parque Lage (EAV), in Rio de Janeiro, and also at courses and independent workshops with people such as: Charles Watson, Jo«ªo Castilho, Caio Reisewitz, Franz Manata, Daniela Labra, Pedro Fran«®a, Renan Cepeda, Luiza Baldan, Marcelo Campos, Denise Cathilina, Eder Chiodetto, Marcos Bonisson, Gui Mohallem, Cristina de Middel, Cl«¡udio Edinger, Martin Parr, Pedro David, Cia de Foto, Mary Ellen Mark, and Alfredo de St«±fano.
I also took part in an artistic residence period in 2012, with artist Eust«¡quio Neves, in Diamantina, Minas Gerais, in this artist¡Çs own studio and laboratory.
Girls from the Village ¡İ 2010: In partnership with Pedro Farina, this is a study portraying the largest whorehouse in Latin America, which is the Vila Mimosa brothel in Rio de Janeiro. This work, which has not yet been put on show, has been praised by artists such as Marcos Bonisson, Jo«ªo Castilho and Caio Reisewitz. In addition, it was chosen by Patricia Gouvea (Studio of Image - RJ) to be part of the presentation ¡ÈA look at Rio de Janeiro photography¡É. Vimeo link e Book Meninas da Vila
I participated in the portfolio reading at the Festival of Light in Argentina in 2010 and 2012, and in the International Photography Festival in France, in 2013. I also developed the PandoraPix project, which is a platform for sale of authorial photography with serial number and certificate, and also a studio for printing of fine art, where we brought together the scene of the Rio de Janeiro production of authorial photography, in order to strengthen and highlight the richness of this production. With photography, I can compose my own view of the world, together with my poetic interpretation of the imaginary. I use techniques of analogue photography, of medium to large format, which admit the possibility of errors, and then I end up incorporating these surprises into my pictures, as subconscious messages.
